Dear Students, Staff, Parents, and Community,
As the 2013-2014 academic year kick-off the spring semester, I want to express to all of you my deepest appreciation for your support and a most earnest commendation for a job well done.
During my tenure at Stephen White, as a community of learners, we have experienced cutbacks, reduction in force, lack of resources, large class sizes, curriculum change….CST to Common Core,
Local Control Funding Formula, new & improved English Learner Development curriculum, Teaching and Learning Frameworks, and Educational Growth and Development Cycle to name
a few. However, your ingenuity and creativity in coping with hardships have helped our students to have an excellent school year thus far. You cushioned the blows for them, shielded them from the problems, and made sure they had a good, productive, and happy school experience.
From the moment I came to Stephen White in 2011, I believed that the real strength of the educational experience was in its exceptionally able and talented staff. That belief is now a conviction. I hoped you would come through this year, and you came through in a way that exceeded my highest expectations.
Things look good for the rest of the semester----not perfect, but good. I think that you will prevail and the members in this community will support a quality educational program at Stephen White Middle School. The proof of that capacity was very much in evidence to me as I walked around the campus and found meaningful instruction going on in virtually every room each period. You are to be commended, for a smooth opening and a job well done.
I say farewell to all of you as I enter into another chapter in my life called Retirement…..A long vacation! I wish I were able to find the right words to thank you for your extraordinary performance and support this year. Good luck and best wishes for a great rest of the school year. Go Knights!!
